The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency NAMA has been advised to pay attention to all component units that offer safety-critical services concerning air traffic communications

The Head of flight operations Arik Air and former managing director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency NAMA Capt Ado Sanusi made this call in Lagos while delivering an address at the fourth annual general meeting of National Association of Air Traffic Communicators Association of Nigeria NACAN held in Lagos.

Capt Sanusi noted that professionals that were engaged in the use of Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Networks AFTN has been found limited and ancient viable to meet the volume of traffic over the network
“It operates only x25 capacity,  its against this backdrop that the development of a technology to keep pace with the present challenges has been found in Air Traffic Services message handling system AMHS”

Capt Sanusi said to maximise gains of the project was to deploy the right personnel to the right positions and equip them with modern training as aviation was being guided by by precision and professionalism.

He described the air traffic Communicators as very relevant in the ATM environment as the responsibility of point to point (ground to ground) message exchange rested on the department.
