The Nigerian equities market Thursday sustained its 5-day bullish run as the benchmark index rose by 1.07% to 31,477.51 points, driven by gains in bellwether stocks.
Thus, the Month-to-Date and the Year-to-Date returns grew to 7.91% and 0.15% respectively.
On sectoral performance, gains in the Consumer Goods (+1.33%), Industrial Goods (+0.82%), Oil & Gas (+0.06%), and Insurance (+0.02%) indices offset the loss in the Banking (-0.20%) index.
Notable stocks include Nestle (+3.41%), Dangote Cement (+0.99%), Mobil (+2.94%), Lawunion (+10.00%), and Zenith Bank (-1.05%), respectively.
Market breadth was negative, with 25 losers and 14 gainers, led by Academy (-10.00%) and Lawunion (+10.00%) shares, respectively.
Total volume of trades increased by 90.03% to 559.76 million units, valued at NGN8.68 billion, and exchanged in 6,042 deals.
Following the recent six-day rally, market watchers guide investors to trade cautiously as some profit-taking activity is likely to ensue.
