The bulls continued to dominate the domestic equities market, as the benchmark index expanded marginally by 0.02% to 27,878.43 points, following investors’ interest in Banking stocks.

Consequently, the Month-to-date loss moderated to 3.35%, while the Year-to-Date gain increased to 3.86%.

Meanwhile, the total volume of trades decreased by 44.84% to 152.4 million units, valued at NGN2.4 billion and exchanged in 3,519 deals.

Guaranty was the most traded stock by volume and value at 46.0 million units and NGN1.34 billion, respectively.

On sector performance, the banking and the industrial indices advanced by 0.30% and 0.08%, respectively, while the Consumer Goods (-0.31%) and Insurance (-0.23%) indices declined. The Oil & Gas index closed flat.

Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative (0.8x), as 17 tickers declined, relative to 13 gainers.

Royalex (-8.00%) and Japauloil (-7.69%) recorded the largest declines, while CI Leasing (+9.09%) and Afriprud (+2.17%) topped the gainer’s list.
