The equity market continued its contractionary movement in Monday’s trading session, following declines in Flourmill (-0.33%), Zenithbank (-0.42%), Stanbic (-0.88%), Transcorp (-1.10%), FBNH (-2.05%), Champion (-2.38%), Buacement (-2.71%) and Airtelafri (-10.00%).
Consequently, the NGX ASI declined by 1.81% with Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns printing at -2.07% and -6.02%, respectively.
The total volume of trades increased by 4.33% to close at 218.27 million units, valued at NGN2.73 billion and exchanged in 3,524 deals.
Transcorp was the most traded stock by volume at 42.44 million units while MTNN was the most traded stock by value at NGN333.75 million.
On sectorial performance today, the selling pressures in the Insurance (-0.39%), Banking (-0.07%) and Industrial (-1.13%) sectors outweighed the buying interests in the Oil & Gas (+0.05%) and Consumer (+0.02%) sectors.
